King & Country VN Vietnam War figure and vehicle articles.
VN088 combines a mortar with a male gunner and female loader. King & Country identifies the weapon as a captured American M29 81mm mortar. The wide catalog photograph also includes additional supply carriers; those are not part of this two-person mortar crew.
VN081 pairs two SAS patrolmen in different camouflage clothing. The pointing leader wears an ERDL-style pattern; his companion wears tiger stripe. Both carry modified SLRs with extended magazines, and the leader’s rifle has a shortened barrel and forward grip. Their faces, equipment and clothing are prepared for concealment.
VN075 includes a 105mm howitzer and four Marine gunners. The open trail, gun shield and large wheels form the mechanical center, while the crew includes men handling the weapon and ammunition. Extra ammunition-handling figures offered elsewhere are separate releases.
Two Marines support a wounded comrade between them in VN068. The middle man’s arms rest across their shoulders, while his bloodied head dressing makes the reason for the close grouping unmistakable. The three move as one compact unit, with weapons and equipment still carried.
VN065 depicts an Australian Centurion with a long main gun, turret machine gun, antennas and extensive stowage. The commander is visible at the turret opening. Its broad tracks and heavy turret contrast sharply with the light patrol vehicles elsewhere in the Vietnam range.
VN058 depicts a barefoot Vietnamese prisoner seated with his hands behind him. He wears dark trousers and a light yellow shirt, with no weapon in his hands. His bent legs and slightly turned head make the pose distinct from the standing captive in the Saigon Embassy Trio.
VN054 portrays a Vietnamese woman carrying a small child against her side. Her conical hat, patterned blouse and dark trousers give the figure a civilian appearance quite distinct from the range’s uniformed troops. The child clings to her, with both faces visible.
A Marine holds a leash while a German Shepherd lowers its nose toward the ground. VN050 contains the handler and dog; the reference sheet shows the same pair from two angles. The Marine retains his weapon and field equipment while following the animal’s lead.
Don McCullin sits low with a camera ready in VN048. His green clothing, helmet and compact equipment place him among the troops, but the camera identifies his different purpose. King & Country based the pose on a photograph taken by fellow photojournalist Nik Wheeler during the fighting at Hue.
VN035 shows Gunnery Sergeant John Canley bending over a wounded Marine and grasping him to move him. The casualty lies with bandaged, bloodied legs extended, while Canley’s forward lean conveys the effort of lifting another man. This is a two-figure rescue scene rather than a standing celebrity portrait.
