King & Country · Vietnam · VN075
VN075 includes a 105mm howitzer and four Marine gunners. The open trail, gun shield and large wheels form the mechanical center, while the crew includes men handling the weapon and ammunition. Extra ammunition-handling figures offered elsewhere are separate releases.
Four Marines at the Gun
The American 105mm howitzer family used in Vietnam had its roots in the Second World War and continued through Korea. Its longevity illustrates how established artillery remained useful alongside helicopters and newer weapons. The crew’s different tasks also show why an artillery piece is a team-operated system rather than simply a large gun with one man behind it.
Review
The crew variety is the main advantage of this set. The men make the working space around the breech understandable, and the gun’s shield does not conceal all of them. It is a substantial, coherent artillery release with enough activity to justify its larger footprint.
