Cavalry unit.
A turban, red waist sash and drawn sabre give this dismounted Jodhpur cavalryman a distinctive outline. The figure is a useful introduction to Indian service in a war whose miniature displays often concentrate on European infantry.
NA087 builds a three-figure encounter around Sergeant Charles Ewart and the standard of the French 45th Line. It is a compact way to explore both a battlefield capture and the later memory created around it.
The bright sleeve decoration and raised instrument distinguish NA084 before the viewer notices the pale horse. This is a cavalry figure whose purpose can be explained through sound and recognition rather than a drawn weapon.
NA083 combines a pale mount with a richly painted standard. The cloth supplies the strongest block of colour above the rider and makes this an immediately recognisable centrepiece for the early K&C Scots Greys group.
The horse lowers its head while Wellington looks outward through a telescope. NA077 sets a commander’s concentration against an animal’s ordinary behaviour, making this personality piece more engaging than a rigid equestrian portrait.
NA066 restores the horse to a group usually displayed around a stationary cannon. The mounted officer makes an artillery collection easier to understand as a mobile organisation with routes, orders and transport needs.
The light horse and blue-clad musician make NA043 stand out from the green-coated dragoons. The raised instrument adds an audible role to the group and gives collectors a striking comparison of dress within a single cavalry arm.
NA042 interrupts the rhythm of the French dragoon group. The horse folds forward and the rider pitches over it, turning a mounted action figure into a study of sudden loss of control.
NA040 lifts a decorated guidon above a moving horse. It gives the dragoon group a visual centre and shows how a small piece of cloth could carry an importance far beyond its size.
The officer’s extended sword points in the same direction as his moving horse. NA039 uses that simple alignment to make command visible, with green clothing and a crested helmet placing the figure firmly within the French dragoon group.
