Cavalry unit.
NA026 gives Napoleon a quieter setting than a charging army. A standing attendant offers fruit to the grey horse, making the relationship between ruler, servant and animal the centre of the vignette.
A rearing horse, a tall plume and richly decorated clothing make NA023 one of the most animated command figures in the early Napoleonic range. Its appeal lies in the contrast between an officer’s formal dress and an animal that refuses to look static.
NA010 is built around a horse lifting its forelegs while the officer holds a curved sword above the saddle. It brings movement to the early British Napoleonic group without needing a second charging figure to explain the action.
The horse stretches forward and the officer extends his sword almost horizontally. FW035 is a cavalry action piece, but it also offers a chance to move beyond the familiar claim that horse soldiers simply disappeared in 1914.
FW005 depicts a saluting officer on a dark horse. The original description identifies him as a major of the 13th Bavarian Rifles—a useful reminder that a mounted figure is not automatically a cavalry trooper.
Ewart captured the French 45th Regiment’s eagle at Waterloo. The Del Prado figure carries a sword, not the trophy: a useful distinction when identifying a loose model.
