King & Country · Napoleonic · NA038
NA038 is an officer at rest, with a restrained gesture and a clear view of the Highland uniform. He supplies a calm center for the early Black Watch group rather than another large action pose.

Authority without a raised sword
The officer’s bearing and equipment distinguish him from the musket-armed soldiers. That quiet presentation suits an inspection, a gathering before movement or a small command vignette. A figure does not need to be pointing dramatically to imply responsibility; the positions and attention of the surrounding men can do that work.
Pairing rank and file
NA036 and NA037 let the viewer compare infantryman, sergeant and officer. The differences in weapons and stance become easier to see when the three stand on the same level with some space between them. Add NA035 if the aim is a regimental portrait rather than a battlefield instant, keeping the pipes clear of the officer’s outline.
Condition can hide in dark areas
The bonnet and darker equipment may conceal small chips in poorly lit photographs. Ask for a view of the front and both sides, including the sword and any fine straps. The tartan is another useful comparison point: broad repainting can flatten the pattern even when the overall colors look convincing from a distance.
