There is a pleasing imbalance to King & Country’s AK008: the rider sits high over the motorcycle while his companion is tucked down in the sidecar, behind a mounted machine gun. The two-man combination has a sandy finish, a spare wheel behind the passenger and luggage that makes the small vehicle look ready for a journey.
RTA092 changes the scale of an RTA display without requiring a complete fort. Its decorated entrance, upper openings and rough roofline provide a recognizable architectural backdrop, while the shallow depth leaves room for figures in front.
RTA090 gives a Mexican infantry display a musician and a different shape. The suspended drum, angled sticks and moving legs create a small scene of their own, with a bright uniform that stays readable among darker-coated troops.
RTA063 pauses the action at a useful moment. The soldier holds his long gun upright and raises a ramrod, showing work that a shelf full of firing figures can easily leave out.
RTA056 takes the collection outside the Alamo walls. Sam Houston sits on a chestnut horse with his sword raised, giving the RTA range a mounted leader for the wider campaign that followed the siege.
The ladder is the story in RTA036. Carried across the front of a running soldier, it interrupts the familiar rhythm of upright muskets and makes a practical problem visible: attackers have to get past the defenses before they can occupy a position.
RTA032 makes the Alamo feel like a defended position. Its field gun and three crewmen introduce a shared task, with the broad carriage and different working poses creating a scene that is more than a row of individual riflemen.
The striped serape and broad-brimmed hat make RTA023 one of the most distinctive silhouettes among the Alamo figures. Juan Seguín also brings an essential part of the history into view: Texans of Mexican heritage participated in the revolution, and their experiences did not fit a simple division by ancestry.
Travis is unusually low to the ground in RTA019. A drawn sword, a braced hand and equipment lying on the base turn the commander into part of the immediate action, rather than a figure standing above it.
RTA015 presents Davy Crockett bareheaded, with a long gun held across his body. The open face and restrained stance give this miniature a different character from the familiar coonskin-cap silhouette, leaving room to consider the volunteer behind the legend.
