King & Country · Texas Revolution · RTA090
RTA090 gives a Mexican infantry display a musician and a different shape. The suspended drum, angled sticks and moving legs create a small scene of their own, with a bright uniform that stays readable among darker-coated troops.

Music could be a working military language
Drummers were part of the system that organized soldiers’ time and movement. The National Park Service’s account of field music at Fort McHenry describes drums and fifes sounding duties, calls and signals in an early nineteenth-century garrison. That is a useful period comparison for understanding why a military musician belongs among the troops. It is not evidence that this Mexican figure is playing a particular American call, or that we can identify a tune from the position of two sculpted sticks.
An individual worth leaving visible
If the drummer is buried in the middle of a tightly packed formation, the drum can disappear behind muskets and neighboring arms. Put him along an open edge of a group, with the instrument turned toward the viewer. Santa Anna provides a taller focal point nearby; the musician supplies a lower one. The relationship works as a study of different military roles without needing an exaggerated battlefield backdrop.
Do not make the costume a biography
The preserved Sagers entry is brief: it names the Mexican Drummer and gives October 2015 release and March 2023 retirement dates. It does not identify a battalion, a named drummer or a specific signal. The uniform is useful for recognizing this release, but additional historical claims need their own evidence. That distinction is especially important for a figure whose colorful clothing may tempt sellers to supply an unsupported elite-unit label.
Inspect the sticks and suspension
Request a front view that shows both sticks clearly, followed by a side view of the drum’s connection to the figure. Look at the plume and at any projecting straps or fittings around the instrument. A broken stick can be difficult to spot in a small marketplace thumbnail. Compare the asking price with the actual completeness of the musician, rather than treating all examples carrying the same code as equivalent.
