The vehicle remains recognizably a light car, with its occupants and equipment exposed.
FW173 depicts a nursing sister in grey and white with a short red cape. She stands holding a small white vessel, without a patient or hospital furniture. The uniform is the central identifying feature and provides a striking contrast to the khaki and field-grey figures around her in the FW range.
A short British soldier escorts a taller German prisoner in FW168. The Briton has a bandaged arm, while the captive’s open coat and subdued posture contrast with his escort’s determined stance. The difference in height is intentional and supplies the meaning behind the title.
FW146 models the French Renault FT with a short gun, compact turret and prominent rear tail. Irregular camouflage patches break up the riveted hull. The tracks extend around a relatively small fighting compartment, giving the vehicle a very different shape from the British rhomboid tanks of the same war.
FW134 depicts a German bugler sounding his instrument while carrying infantry equipment. Pale drill clothing contrasts with dark boots and a spiked helmet, and the raised bugle projects from the face. The pack and slung weapon make him a soldier with a signaling role rather than a concert musician.

FW092 is a Mercedes staff vehicle with an enclosed rear compartment, outside steps and a side canopy. A driver is included at the wheel; the Kaiser is not. The tall body, roofline and elaborate front lamps give it a markedly different character from an ordinary open staff car.
