King & Country · Vietnam · VN018
A Navy corpsman bends over a wounded Marine lying on his back. The corpsman holds a fluid container above the casualty, while an M16 lies alongside them. VN018 contains the two men as a medical scene; the M274 Mule sometimes paired with it is the separate VN017 release.

Marine infantry relied on Navy corpsmen for immediate medical care. That relationship is central to the scene: the man providing treatment is serving with the Marines without being a Marine himself. His low posture also reflects the difference between treating someone in a hospital and trying to keep a casualty alive where incoming fire remains a danger.
Review
The raised container and bent body identify the treatment without a label having to explain every gesture. The rifle beside the casualty keeps the military context present. This is a focused two-person composition, and its strength comes from the corpsman’s protective position over the wounded man.
