King & Country · Napoleonic · NA053
NA053 carries a large Union-pattern color that rises well above the Black Watch officer. The flag becomes the visual center of the piece, with the smaller human figure explaining who bears it.

A color is not just background decoration
A regiment’s colors embodied its identity and provided a visible point around which men could orient. In a display, the flag naturally draws the eye in much the same way. The figure works best where that height helps organize the group, rather than at the very back of a shelf where the upper flag disappears into shadow.
A small color-party arrangement
Place a sergeant such as NA037 close enough to appear connected but far enough away that the polearm and flagstaff do not merge. One or two infantrymen can then frame the officer. That restrained arrangement explains the roles more clearly than surrounding the flag with unrelated charging cavalry.
Check the whole height
Ask for a photograph that includes the top of the staff and the lower base in the same frame. Inspect both faces of the flag, its edges and its connection to the staff. Bends and paint chips are particularly noticeable against the geometric pattern. The figure may fit comfortably on a shelf while the flag still needs several extra inches of clearance.
