King & Country · Afrika Korps · AK085

AK085 depicts a captured British Daimler Dingo with a German driver, large identification crosses and an air-recognition flag over the rear engine cover. The set includes a separate MG34, an important distinction from examples offered as the vehicle alone.

Small vehicle, useful job
The Tank Museum traces the Dingo to a pre-war BSA design that entered service in 1939. Its low silhouette suited reconnaissance, and its transmission allowed rapid travel in either direction. That ability made retreat from an awkward encounter a practical part of its design. The museum also records uses beyond scouting, including medical officers checking for casualties. AK085 depicts a German reuse of the type; it does not identify a documented individual captured car.
Review
The combination of British bodywork and German markings is what makes AK085 interesting. The open crew compartment exposes the driver, while the weathered finish breaks up the flat armour panels. The large recognition flag dominates the rear deck; collectors who prefer subtler markings may find it distracting. The separate MG34 gives the captured version a further distinction beyond the repaint.
