King & Country · Afrika Korps · AK077
Overview
The bonnet shape and open driving position of AK077 look different from the German trucks around it, and that difference is the point. King & Country depicts a captured British Morris CS8 15 cwt truck with a German driver. The original British-style desert finish remains, overlaid with large German crosses on the bonnet and the cargo-body sides. The open rear bed, side boards and exposed windscreen frame give it a light, spare appearance. It carries no mounted gun. Its main contribution is useful load space, and the crosses announce the change of ownership. The four-angle reference photograph is particularly helpful because the open body lets you see the driver and interior from several directions.

Historical inspiration
The Morris-Commercial CS8 belonged to Britain’s pre-war generation of military light trucks. The National Army Museum records a six-cylinder engine and a family offered with several body types, with production continuing into 1944. The “15 cwt” designation refers to a load class—roughly three-quarters of a British ton—not the truck’s engine size or total weight. In North Africa, capturing a serviceable vehicle could provide transport when long supply routes made replacements difficult. Putting it to use, however, also meant keeping an unfamiliar machine running. AK077’s retained paint and added crosses make that process easy to read: the truck has changed hands, but it has not changed its mechanical identity.
Park the Morris beside an Opel Blitz and the mixed fleet becomes more interesting than a row of matching lorries. An empty bed is perfectly useful for a return journey or a vehicle waiting to load; it does not need a mountain of accessories to justify its presence. If you add cargo, leave the side crosses visible. The windscreen frame, steering area and cargo rails are worth comparing with the reference views before buying, and the driver should be accounted for. Those checks also help distinguish this German-crewed release from other Morris models that share much of the same outline.
