King & Country · WWII U.S. Marines · USMC059
USMC059 portrays Lewis “Chesty” Puller pointing ahead, with an M1 carbine slung over his right shoulder and a pipe in his left hand. The upright figure wears a soft cap rather than the camouflage-covered helmet seen on many combat releases. The equipment and gesture give the portrait its character without an elaborate base.

A career larger than one battlefield
Puller commanded 1st Battalion, 7th Marines on Guadalcanal and earned his third Navy Cross there. His fourth followed at Cape Gloucester; the fifth came during the Korean War. Keeping those awards in sequence matters: the complete five-Navy-Cross reputation belongs to his career, not to the WWII moment represented by this lieutenant-colonel figure.
The manufacturer describes a Pacific-campaign likeness, not the reconstruction of one dated photograph. His later fame should not flatten the wartime history into a single heroic scene. Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester and Peleliu were different operations, fought under different conditions and with different command responsibilities.
Review
The pipe, soft cap and pointing arm make the figure recognizable without requiring a nameplate. The slung carbine is a useful counterweight to the extended arm and keeps the portrait within a field setting. It succeeds as a named-character miniature, while the precise moment remains an interpretation.
