King & Country · Napoleonic · NA162
NA162 places a Dutch lancer musician on a grey horse with his instrument raised. The decorated uniform and tall square-topped headgear are especially conspicuous, while the red saddlecloth adds another broad area of color. Unlike a lancer trooper, he is actively sounding a signal.
Historical inspiration
Mounted musicians provided calls that could be recognized across a cavalry body. Their dress often differentiated them from ordinary troopers, making them conspicuous both to the ear and the eye. The figure captures that specialized function within the Guard’s lancer organization rather than simply adding a musical instrument to a standard fighting pose.

Review
The grey horse sets off the rich uniform particularly well. The raised instrument gives the rider a definite activity, and the decorative details are substantial enough to make him more than a minor variation on NA159. It is a lively musician with a strong individual identity.
