King & Country · Napoleonic · NA031
NA031 moves the early 71st group forward. The long stride and diagonal weapon give him a sense of purpose that is absent from the more formal ready and firing poses.

Follow the line of movement
The forward leg, tilted torso and weapon all help establish a direction. Positioning a neighboring figure to look the same way makes the pair feel connected. Turn that second figure away and the scene becomes confused surprisingly quickly. NA031 is therefore useful as a starting point for laying out a small advancing group before adding scenery.
The historical frame
The 71st served in the Peninsula and later at Waterloo, as documented by the National Army Museum. Its history supplies several possible settings, but the model’s uniform still needs to be matched to the intended year. A generic advancing display is more honest than a very precise battle label supported only by the regiment’s presence there.
Planning the base and checking condition
Leave some open ground in front of the leading foot so the movement does not stop against a wall or another base. Examine the bayonet, rifle sling and ankle areas in a used listing. The spaces between the legs and around the arms make this silhouette distinctive, but they also reward photographs from more than one side.
