King & Country · Battle of the Bulge · BBA021
King & Country BBA021 Winter Bazooka Team shows the two jobs involved in serving the weapon. The gunner shoulders the launcher while the second man works at its rear. Both kneel, wearing winter clothing and helmets, which keeps the group low and draws attention to the long tube between them.
In the set: Two kneeling soldiers, a bazooka gunner and his loader.

The bazooka was a portable antitank weapon normally worked by a gunner and loader. Army wartime photographs also record its use against pillboxes and fortified buildings. A two-man team could therefore have a place beside infantry approaching a defended house as well as in a scene involving enemy armor.
The loading pose is the detail that makes this more interesting than a lone man aiming a weapon. It records a moment in the firing routine. The pair needs to remain together, with the loader close to the rear of the launcher, for that action to make sense. A wall beside the men can suggest cover while leaving their hands and the weapon visible.
Review
This is a compact group with a clearly defined purpose. In the photographs, the gunner’s horizontal launcher contrasts neatly with the loader’s bent posture. It suits a small infantry display where a tank would take over the scene. The repeated winter colors are broken up by the different arm positions and equipment, although a high viewing angle will show the cooperation between the figures better than looking straight at the muzzle.
