King & Country · Afrika Korps · AK037
Overview
King & Country’s AK037 Opel Blitz gives a desert collection something every tank needs: transport behind it. The truck comes with an Afrika Korps driver, a detailed cab and a removable rear canopy; the release description also specifies rolling wheels. Its tall canvas-covered load space rises above the cab, while the sand-coloured body carries a deliberately worn finish. There is no mounted weapon to distract from the job of carrying things. With the canopy fitted, the model has the solid silhouette of a vehicle on the road. Remove it and the open cargo bed becomes the interesting part, ready to suggest a delivery, a pause for loading or the end of a long journey.

Historical inspiration
German supply troops moved fuel, food, ammunition and equipment forward from depots to the formations using them. In North Africa, distance could undo a victory: the National Army Museum describes how advancing forces repeatedly stretched their supply routes until shortages and vehicle wear checked their progress. The truck therefore belongs to the story of an offensive as much as the tank at its head. There is also a civilian history behind its familiar name. Opel introduced the Blitz name in 1930, before the war, and it eventually became associated with the company’s lightning emblem. This military miniature represents one use of a commercial vehicle family whose career continued for decades after the desert campaign had ended.
The removable canopy offers two quite different scenes without buying another vehicle. A covered truck beside a marching column suggests movement; an uncovered truck with a few separately sourced crates and a waiting soldier suggests work. Keep the load restrained so the bed and side boards remain visible. The driver matters, too: an empty cab can turn a convoy into a parked vehicle, which may be useful but changes the scene. When comparing listings, ask whether the canopy and driver are present and request a photograph beneath the canopy. Those details tell you more about this particular set than the size of its box.
