A dark green uniform and red details stand above a pale horse. Del Prado’s Austrian 7th Uhlans trumpeter carries the cavalry catalog beyond the Napoleonic wars into the middle of the nineteenth century.
A bright helmet crest and dark breastplate frame the pale uniform of this Austrian officer. The brown horse and upright seat give Del Prado’s 1814 cuirassier a formal, easily readable presence.
The rearing horse makes this Del Prado officer impossible to mistake for a quiet parade figure. A dark uniform and pale breeches keep the rider readable above the dramatic movement of the mount.

The rider folds forward over a moving grey horse, making this one of the more unsettling Del Prado command figures. It depicts Auguste de Caulaincourt, whose death belongs to the struggle for Borodino’s great redoubt.
