NA075 crouches forward with the weapon close to the body. The compact, alert posture gives the Legion group a searching figure that can lead the eye toward cover, a gap in a wall or the edge of a field.
NA074 steps ahead with his body slightly inclined and the weapon carried low across the front. The figure adds movement to the Legion’s green-coated infantry without committing him to an obvious close-combat lunge.
NA073 lowers the body while the hands work around the firearm. The loading action gives the King’s German Legion group an interval between movement and firing, rather than another copy of the same aiming stance.
NA072 brings the green-coated Legion soldier down onto one knee with the weapon at his shoulder. The low firing line and dark uniform make a strong contrast with the red-coated British infantry elsewhere in the collection.
NA070 shades his eyes with one hand while holding his weapon down at his side. The green coat and gray trousers place him visually with K&C’s King’s German Legion subjects, while the gesture makes observation the main task.
NA063 holds the weapon upright in a formal presenting-arms pose. The controlled stance gives the Guard group a ceremonial counterpart to its marching and advancing infantry.
NA062 raises a hand in salute while standing in the formal dress of the Guard group. The gesture creates a relationship with an unseen superior or occasion, making the figure useful for a compact scene of military ceremony.
The drum at the front of NA061 interrupts the repeated pattern of muskets and crossbelts in the Guard group. It gives the soldier an identifiable task and adds a rounded form beneath the tall bearskin.
NA060 represents the Guard on the move, with the weapon on the shoulder and the body kept upright beneath the tall bearskin. It is a useful figure for a road column, review approach or regimental grouping.
NA059 brings the long firearm forward across the body as the Guard infantryman advances. The low weapon line balances the tall bearskin, giving the figure a purposeful silhouette even in a small group.
