King & Country · Napoleonic · NA070
NA070 shades his eyes with one hand while holding his weapon down at his side. The green coat and gray trousers place him visually with K&C’s King’s German Legion subjects, while the gesture makes observation the main task.

Looking is part of leading
A sergeant needed to understand what was happening around his men. This sculpt gives that responsibility a clear physical action. Position him where he can appear to look across a field or toward an approaching figure. A high wall directly in front of his face would defeat the point of the pose.
A focal point for a dispersed group
NA072 and NA073 show firing and loading, while NA074 and NA075 are moving subjects. NA070 can organize those different activities by looking in the same general direction. Leave enough space between the figures to suggest individual tasks rather than forcing every pose into a close parade rank.
Inspect the gesture first
The raised hand, face and headgear are the important identification area. Compare the lowered weapon and the red waist detail as supporting clues. In a used listing, ask for a close view of the fingers and weapon tip. If the gesture is partly hidden by the camera angle, the figure can be mistaken for an ordinary standing soldier.
