Based on German historical characters.
A light blue coat and a long raised weapon give this dragoon a crisp mounted silhouette. The Hanoverian name identifies a regional tradition, while the 1871 date places the figure after Hanover had lost its independent kingdom.
Light clothing, rolled sleeves and a helmet carried in the hand give this German paratrooper a relaxed standing outline. The 1942 subject is distinct from the darker-clothed late-war airborne figures already in the catalog.
A peaked cap and dark naval clothing give this officer a restrained appearance. Del Prado’s figure belongs to the Imperial German Navy of the First World War, an important distinction in a range containing several later German naval subjects.
Red trousers, a pale decorated coat and towering headgear make this drum major difficult to miss. Del Prado’s Westphalian subject brings a musical appointment and one of Napoleon’s allied kingdoms into the infantry collection.
A covered spiked helmet and field-grey clothing place this Del Prado officer at the beginning of the First World War. His hand-on-hip stance makes a composed counterpart to the range’s more active infantry poses.
This dark-uniformed sergeant belongs to the King’s German Legion’s 2nd Light Battalion. The quiet standing pose introduces one of the German formations in British service whose contribution is easily missed in a Waterloo display.
The tall pale plume and white cross-belts make this Prussian Guard grenadier a striking upright figure. His 1813 date places the subject in the renewed war against Napoleon, well beyond Prussia’s earlier defeat in 1806.
A long forward-pointing lance and red clothing give this mounted figure a direct, forceful shape. Del Prado’s Swabian League subject belongs to the political and social upheavals of the early sixteenth century.
A raised sword, pale coat and black horse give this Del Prado trooper a forceful outline. The Leuthen identification places the figure in Frederick the Great’s army during the Seven Years’ War.
The pale yellow coat and broad black bicorne give this Saxon trooper an appearance far removed from the later crested-helmet stereotype. The model’s 1806 date is essential to understanding what Del Prado has represented.
