A red-coated trooper sits above a grazing horse, giving this Royal Dragoon a surprisingly quiet presence. Del Prado dates the subject to 1814, one year before the regiment’s celebrated capture of a French eagle at Waterloo.
The pale yellow coat and broad black bicorne give this Saxon trooper an appearance far removed from the later crested-helmet stereotype. The model’s 1806 date is essential to understanding what Del Prado has represented.
Savary sits upright on a dark horse, with gold details and red facings breaking up the sombre uniform. Del Prado gives him a composed command pose suited to a man whose career extended far beyond battlefield cavalry.
The extended sabre pulls the eye forward while the horse stretches into motion. Red clothing and a green saddle covering make Del Prado’s Lefebvre-Desnouettes one of the most energetic mounted commanders in the range.
A green-coated dragoon sits over a chestnut horse, with pale straps and a crested helmet giving the rider a recognisable profile. This Del Prado subject offers a quieter view of the cavalry of 1809.
The rider folds forward over a moving grey horse, making this one of the more unsettling Del Prado command figures. It depicts Auguste de Caulaincourt, whose death belongs to the struggle for Borodino’s great redoubt.
A red jacket stands out sharply above a pale grey horse. This Del Prado hussar officer is identified through Kellermann’s command, a useful connection that also requires care with a famous family name.
Pale braid spreads across this hussar’s dark uniform, giving the torso a decorative rhythm. The brown horse and upright seat keep the Del Prado figure readable as a study of clothing and equipment.
The green coat and compact mounted pose make this Del Prado chasseur easy to confuse with a guardsman. The reference identifies a French chasseur à cheval of 1805 without assigning him to the Imperial Guard.
A red plume, contrasting braid and a lowered head give this Russian trumpeter a distinctive appearance. The Del Prado reference identifies the regiment as Jitomir, another spelling of Zhitomir or Zhytomyr.
