The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS072

WS072 presents a summer-camouflaged Panther Ausf. G with figures distributed across its upper surfaces. The foliage and worn finish give the model a busy texture, but the crew arrangement is one of its most useful identifying details.

Four figures does not mean four standing men

The original announcement specifies one full-body figure, two half-body figures and one head-and-shoulders figure. That precise breakdown matters when comparing a loose vehicle with an old listing that merely says four crew.

It also explains why some of the figures appear to sit naturally within the hatches. Their lower bodies were not necessarily supplied as complete removable standing sculpts.

Normandy as the intended setting

The release identifies the Panther with 12th SS Hitlerjugend Division markings and places its summer appearance in the Normandy fighting of 1944. That is the manufacturer’s intended setting for the model.

The WS historical overview supplies the broader organizational and campaign context. The camouflage treatment should not be mistaken for proof that this miniature reproduces one independently identified wartime photograph.

Details to keep with the record

  • The announcement lists an elevating main gun and movable support bracket.
  • The finish includes a deliberately worn appearance.
  • Camouflage material was advertised for the first 1,000 releases, rather than promised for every example.

That last qualification is easily lost when promotional text is shortened. An absent bag of foliage does not by itself prove that a later example is incomplete.

Why this Panther belongs separately

The announcement placed WS072 after several earlier King & Country Panthers. Its particular crew arrangement and features document another stage in that development. Preserve those details alongside the photograph, instead of reducing the release to a generic summer Panther.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS072 product record lists a release date of May 2006 and a retirement date of May 2008. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
