The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS068

WS068 is catalogued as a Puma, but the open fighting compartment and short 75mm gun point to a different member of the eight-wheeled Sd.Kfz. 234 family. The name on the box is only the beginning of this vehicle’s story.

Which 234 is this?

The Tank Museum’s Sd.Kfz. 234/3 record distinguishes the short-75mm version from the enclosed-turret 234/2 with its 50mm gun. The latter is the vehicle usually associated with the Puma name.

WS068 depicts the open-topped 234/3 arrangement. Retaining the original catalog title helps collectors find the release, while adding the precise type prevents the title from obscuring what the miniature actually represents.

Eight wheels, two visible crew

The archived release specifies two standing SS crew figures and late-war camouflage. In the photograph the men rise above the open compartment, making the vehicle’s interior arrangement a visible part of the model.

The four wheels down each side create a long, low rhythm beneath that busy upper section. Stowage around the hull adds texture without hiding the unusual chassis.

A collection gains more than another armoured car

This set is particularly useful beside an enclosed-turret 234 model. The shared family resemblance remains clear, but the different gun and fighting compartment change the whole upper silhouette.

For a display, a slightly elevated angle reveals the crew and open space around the gun. For a reference photograph, include a side view as well so the full wheel arrangement can be checked.

WS068 earns its separate entry through those specific features. Recording both its original name and its represented vehicle type makes future searches more useful than silently replacing one with the other.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS068 product record lists a release date of March 2005 and a retirement date of September 2006. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
