The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS064

Four German figures occupy different levels in the archived WS064 photograph: two standing, one kneeling and one prone. The title places them on the German side of the approaching Soviet advance, despite its reference to Russians.

A late-war subject with an important distinction

The written product record describes a mixture of Volkssturm and Volksgrenadier personnel. These names should not be treated as interchangeable labels for every German infantry figure.

The Deutsches Historisches Museum places the Volkssturm within Nazi Germany’s late-1944 mobilization and describes poorly prepared men sent into the final fighting. That is the context behind the militia references in the archived description.

The photograph and written contents do not fully agree

The saved image matches the group labeled WS064 in Sager’s archive. A Michigan Toy Soldier catalog reference also illustrates the same four poses under that code.

However, the written description’s individual poses and weapon allocation do not fully match the photographed arrangement. This catalog preserves that discrepancy rather than inventing a corrected figure-by-figure list or presenting the militia identifications as visually confirmed.

What can be compared with confidence

The four photographed poses give the group a stepped composition, rising from the prone man through the kneeling rifleman to the two standing figures. A shallow stagger keeps all four visible in a display.

When assessing a listing, compare the actual figures and box identification as well as the copied product text. The familiar title alone does not resolve the conflicting archive details.

WS064 remains a documented release and deserves a place in the collection’s record. Its wider interest lies in the late-war setting, while its surviving documentation also shows why a fan-curated catalog sometimes needs to retain a clear note of uncertainty.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS064 product record lists a release date of March 2005 and a retirement date of December 2007. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
