King & Country · Vietnam · VN001
VN001 is busy without firing a shot. The Marine kneels with a radio handset at his face, an M16 in his other hand and an antenna rising above his helmet. The equipment on his back and the divided attention of his hands explain his job more clearly than a label could. In a shelf of riflemen aiming in the same direction, he introduces a different kind of activity.
The photograph behind the pose
The release description identifies the radio as a PRC-25 and says the pose was based on a combat photograph. That connection gives the figure a documentary starting point, but the short listing does not identify the photographer or the individual Marine. It is better to keep that distinction visible than assign him a famous name. The kneeling posture belongs naturally beside a man observing ahead or a small command group; it does not require a dramatic explosion to make sense.
Give the antenna room
Try placing him beside VN003 Standing Ready, with the rifleman watching outward while the operator concentrates on the handset. A low wall can suggest shelter without hiding the pack. From the front, the tall antenna is a useful visual contrast with the low body. Avoid a shelf position directly beneath a projecting ledge, where the antenna could be caught when moving the figure.
What to check in a loose example
Ask for a rear photograph as well as a front view. Inspect the antenna, pack, handset area and rifle muzzle, and compare the equipment silhouette with the reference image. A missing thin part can disappear against a busy seller photograph. Preserve the full code VN001 in your collection record: the older K&C VN01 Patrol is a different release, and another manufacturer also uses VN-prefixed codes. Maker and exact code belong together.
