King & Country · Napoleonic · NA017
NA017 raises a horn in one hand while carrying a long firearm and bayonet in the other. The yellow-and-green accents make this a lively companion to the early French infantry and a useful introduction to the light-company role.

The two diagonals make the sculpt
The raised horn points across the front of the body while the firearm rises on the opposite side. A light blue jacket, pale trousers and contrasting shoulder details separate the bugler from the darker-coated line figures. The pose looks active even without an exaggerated stride. It is particularly effective from the front quarter, where both the instrument and the weapon can be seen.
Keep the company role distinct
Do not label every French figure with a plume as an Imperial Guardsman. The early NA group contains different infantry roles, and the bugler’s dress provides one of the clearest contrasts. He can accompany a loose skirmishing scene or a company preparing to move. If you use him beside NA016, explain the difference between the horn and drum instead of treating them as interchangeable accessories.
A display that protects the outline
Leave open space on both sides of the figure. The horn and bayonet are its main identifying shapes and are also the parts most easily damaged. Ask for clear views of the bell, the hand at the mouth, the weapon tip and the sling. Check the green and yellow trim against the reference image for repainting. In a mixed lot, those details and the specific arm positions are more reliable than the seller’s general description of a French musician.
