The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD340(B)
DD340(B) carries the Bren forward with his torso bent and the barrel angled down. The figure captures the movement between firing positions, adding an active gunner to the British beach group.

The weapon’s name crosses borders
The National Army Museum’s Bren record traces the British weapon to a modified Czech design and explains the name’s Brno–Enfield connection.
That international background sits behind an outline strongly associated with British infantry. The curved magazine above the receiver makes the miniature recognizable even when seen among riflemen.
The pose shows carried weight
Both arms draw the gun into the body, and the bent back puts the pack high behind the helmet. The result looks different from a rifleman carrying a much narrower weapon.
The sand base identifies this B version. It is also the advancing Bren figure included in the manufacturer’s SGS-DD011 Sword Beach bundle, although DD340(B) has its own individual release record.
Set the advance beside the firing position
DD342(B) provides the prone Bren gunner. Used as separate moments in a display, the two poses show the contrast between carrying the weapon and settling behind it.
Keep enough space in front of the muzzle for the downward angle to remain visible. DD340(B) contributes movement and a distinctive equipment shape to the collection, rather than simply increasing the number of men standing near a landing craft.
Which Bren gunner fits your display?
The closest comparison is DD340(G), the grass-base version. Choose between the two by the ground you intend to show: the sand finish can sit naturally beside a landing craft, while the grass finish gives an inland scene a different starting point. The suffix records that choice; it should remain part of the name when you save a listing or label a photograph.
DD342(B), the prone Bren gunner, changes the action as well as the outline. DD340(B) takes the weapon somewhere; DD342(B) settles behind it. For a small display, decide which moment you want to tell before buying both. For a larger one, give each pose its own patch of space so the difference remains readable.
Also compare the individual figure with SGS-DD011 Sword Beach Set No. 2. That bundle includes this gunner, so a collector who already owns the complete group may already have the figure. A listing for DD340(B) alone should not be read as an offer for the landing craft and other figures shown in a group display.
For a useful condition comparison, request a side view of the Bren and an unobstructed view of the base. These help you assess the projecting barrel and magazine, confirm the ground finish, and separate the figure being sold from any surrounding scenery.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD340(B) product record lists a release date of August 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
