The Operation ToyBox catalog · SGS-DD011

SGS-DD011 takes the Sword Beach idea in a different direction from Set No. 1. There are fewer infantry figures, but the selection includes Bren-gun subjects that give the group a distinct equipment story as the men leave their Royal Navy landing craft.

Count the components, not the catalog lines

The official bundle contains DD336, DD340(B), DD354(B) and DD355(B). DD336 is the LCVP numbered 1324 with three naval crew. The infantry are one advancing Bren gunner, one standing firing rifleman and a two-man running Bren team.

That makes four infantry plus three sailors and the boat. Four component codes do not mean four single figures, and the craft’s crew should not be counted as additional assault infantry.

A landing is the beginning of an infantry action

The National Army Museum’s photograph of troops approaching Sword connects the beach with the British 3rd Division and accompanying formations. The boat explains how troops arrived; the mixture of rifles and light machine guns helps shift the miniature scene toward what followed ashore.

The Bren team also creates a relationship between two figures. Their shared movement can suggest men keeping together under difficult conditions, without inventing a named action or claiming that the poses reproduce a particular wartime photograph.

How this set differs on the shelf

The raised arm of the coxswain and the infantry’s active poses create a livelier set of diagonals than a line of standing men. Leave those gestures visible rather than hiding every figure inside the craft.

The B suffixes identify the sandy-base infantry appropriate to the bundle’s beach presentation. Keep the 1324 hull number in view when comparing it with the 1335 craft in SGS-DD010.

This separate SGS record preserves a useful collecting distinction: Set No. 2 is a particular combination of existing releases, with its own figure count and weapon mix.

Release record and collecting notes

King & Country’s official catalog SGS-DD011 release reference identifies this model without giving a release or retirement date on the linked page. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
