King & Country DD328 General Charles de Gaulle: The Free French Story Beyond the Landing Beaches

His Normandy return came after D-Day

The same official heritage service records his return to France and speech at Bayeux on 14 June 1944. He should not be presented as a participant in the first landing waves on 6 June.

The sculpt does not claim to reproduce that Bayeux appearance specifically. The date gives context for his place in a Normandy collection without turning the formal pose into a photograph of a named moment.

The uniform supplies the portrait’s structure

The kepi and raised hand draw attention toward the head. The pale breeches and dark boots create a strong lower contrast, while the straight posture gives the figure a ceremonial presence.

Beside the later French commando releases, de Gaulle represents the wider Free French cause rather than another member of Kieffer’s assault force.

DD328 belongs in the catalog as a named leadership portrait with a broader historical frame. Its formal appearance creates room to discuss the political meaning of liberation alongside the soldiers and equipment that made the campaign possible.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD328 product record lists a release date of June 2019. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
