The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD246
A medic carries a large brown carton in both arms in DD246. The red-cross brassard identifies his role, while the box makes the subject about the supplies needed for care rather than treatment already underway.

The carton changes the pose
Its broad rectangular front covers much of the torso. The medic’s hands support opposite parts of the load, with his head lifted above it and his legs separated beneath.
Printed-looking dark marks on the carton provide a different texture from the uniform and webbing. The reference image is not sharp enough to transcribe every label confidently, so the box is identified as the set’s medical-supply load without inventing its full contents.
Care required an organized supply chain
The U.S. Army’s account of medical support on D-Day places individual aidmen within regimental and divisional medical organizations. The work depended on more than the visible moment of attending a wound.
DD246 gives that supporting effort a tangible object. A carton in a pair of arms can explain why a medic is moving through a scene even when no casualty is beside him.
The brassard needs a clear view
The white band and red cross sit high enough to remain visible above the load’s side. They are the quickest visual clue to the figure’s medical role.
A front-quarter angle shows the marking, the box and the way the hands hold it. A straight view from the opposite side can let the carton hide too much of the figure.
A practical companion to the casualty releases
DD241, DD242 and DD245 offer a wounded pair, a seated casualty and a direction toward help. The supplies medic adds another kind of movement to that small group.
Set him near a doorway, table or separate stores so the load has an apparent destination. He brings useful variety to the DD medical collection, keeping the effort of sustaining care visible alongside the people receiving it.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD246 product record lists a release date of October 2014 and a retirement date of August 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
