The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD245

The GI in DD245 looks to the side and gestures back over his shoulder, his rifle carried upright by its sling. On its own the pose reads as a direction; beside the Walking Wounded pair, it becomes a small exchange about where to find help.

The manufacturer gives the gesture a destination

The release description says he is directing DD241 toward the nearest aid station. That link makes the two sets complementary without requiring them to share a base.

Place the gesturing soldier a little ahead of the pair, with his face turned toward them. The space between the figures becomes part of the conversation.

Finding help was part of the movement of casualties

The Army’s D-Day medical history describes care organized through aid stations and collecting units. A small directional gesture can point toward that larger system without showing every stage of it.

The figure is an ordinary armed GI rather than a visibly marked medic. That gives the scene a useful human detail: information and assistance could come from someone encountered along the route.

The hand carries the story

The raised arm sits opposite the upright rifle, creating two distinct shapes around the torso. His turned head links the gesture to an implied listener.

The pale jacket contrasts with the greener trousers, while the netted helmet adds texture above. Keep the hand visible when photographing him; a crop that cuts it off removes much of the reason for the pose.

A connector rather than a centrepiece

DD245 is effective between other subjects. He can connect a casualty pair with a quieter medical area or suggest the next part of a route beyond the edge of the display.

That is a different collecting role from a dramatic action figure. Back Thataways adds direction, conversation and a sense of a larger place around the miniatures, with one clear gesture doing most of the narrative work.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD245 product record lists a release date of October 2014 and a retirement date of May 2025. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
