The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD154
Eisenhower stands beside an olive-drab staff car with Kay Summersby at his side and a female driver at the wheel. DD154 places the Supreme Allied Commander in a small travel scene instead of at a map table.

Three people and a staff car
The original release describes an inspection visit in southern England during spring 1944. It distinguishes Summersby’s standing figure from the seated Women’s Army Corps driver, so the two women should not be collapsed into a single character when describing the contents.
The saluting general supplies the formal gesture. The car and accompanying personnel give that gesture a setting.
Summersby helped preserve the headquarters story
A particularly interesting connection comes from the National Archives’ account of Eisenhower’s wartime desk diaries. Summersby maintained the records, including all the entries in the 1945 volume, while Eisenhower also contributed handwritten entries in 1944.
The diaries recorded appointments, journeys and observations. That documentary role adds substance to a figure who might otherwise be described only as someone standing beside the general.
A headquarters scene on the move
Positioning the standing figures slightly forward of the car keeps the driver visible through the windows. A road or headquarters entrance can suggest the inspection setting without claiming that the miniature reproduces one identified photograph.
The October 2011 release was announced as a Strictly Limited edition of 750 sets, with DD154(SL) as its full designation.
Its place in the collection comes from the combination of a recognizable commander, the people supporting his work and an ordinary means of transport. The staff car makes the command story feel less abstract and more human.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD154 product record lists a release date of October 2011. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
