The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD104
The crew climb around a massive wheeled recovery vehicle, with lifting equipment towering above the rear. DD104 shifts attention from winning a tank engagement to the less glamorous business of getting damaged machinery moving again.
A vehicle with work to do
King & Country supplied four full-bodied crew figures with this M26. Their different positions around the vehicle turn it into an active workplace rather than an empty truck parked behind the fighting.
The armored cab, large wheels and rear recovery equipment give the model a distinctive outline. Its painted recovery slogan adds a small piece of workshop personality to the olive-drab finish.
Recovery tractor and tank transporter are different displays
The original release explanation notes that the M26 tractor could also be used with a large trailer as part of a tank-transporter combination. This set presents the recovery vehicle; a tank and transporter trailer are not included in the reference arrangement.
That distinction opens up useful scenic choices. A disabled vehicle nearby can explain the crew’s presence, while a simple roadside setting leaves the M26’s equipment easier to see.
Four crewmen give the eye a route around the model
A slightly elevated angle shows the men working at different heights. Leave room beside the rear wheels so the ground-level figure is not swallowed by the vehicle’s bulk.
The November 2008 announcement specifies rolling wheels and a run of 1,250 sets in dedicated packaging, using the full DD104(SL) designation.
For the collection, this is a welcome change from another gun platform. It gives the armored story a supporting cast and a practical consequence: even an impressive tank needs help when it cannot move under its own power.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD104 product record lists a release date of November 2008. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
