The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD111
DD111 places a prone Bren gunner beside a kneeling rifleman and an advancing soldier. The three heights lead the eye from the ground upward while keeping the group’s attention directed ahead.

The title moves the story forward
The landing was the beginning of the infantry’s task. The National Army Museum’s Sword Beach record places the British 3rd Division within the assault and the movement toward troops already inland.
DD111 supplies a representative infantry scene in that transition, rather than a named encounter.
The regiment is stated in the release note
The source identifies the DD108–DD111 group with the 2nd Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment. That should remain with the catalog entry instead of reducing the figures to anonymous British troops.
The original combination is a prone Bren gunner, a kneeling rifleman and a moving companion.
Compare the two Bren treatments
DD108 uses a standing gunner. Here the weapon and its operator lie low, making the ground a much stronger part of the composition.
A little clear space in front preserves the gun’s outline, while the taller figures can sit slightly behind or to one side.
Why the group belongs separately
DD111 records a different arrangement of familiar infantry roles. Its collecting interest comes from the relationship between the low gun position and the two men around it.
Preserve the complete three-figure reference so that the prone gunner does not lose his original set identity when placed among other British infantry or scenery.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD111 product record lists a release date of June 2009 and a retirement date of August 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
