The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD112

DD112 gathers a Canadian officer, radio operator and kneeling rifleman into one low command group. The radio adds a visible link to people beyond the three figures on the shelf.

The Canadian Scottish setting

The release sequence identifies the Canadian infantry with the Canadian Scottish Regiment of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. The Juno Beach Centre’s battalion account explains that C Company joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles for the assault, while the rest initially formed the brigade reserve.

That gives the figures a more specific setting than the general label Commonwealth infantry.

Three roles in one compact group

The archived description identifies the officer with a revolver, the radio man relaying a message and the rifleman covering them. Their different hand positions make those activities readable in the photo.

The set does not identify a particular message or a named headquarters incident.

The equipment connects the composition

The radio operator’s load distinguishes him from an ordinary rifleman. The officer’s revolver and the third man’s aimed rifle create different visual lines around that central communication role.

A front-quarter view helps keep the faces and hand gestures visible together.

Why command figures matter

DD112 adds observation and communication to the Canadian action releases. It gives the collection a way to suggest the coordination behind movement without requiring a large headquarters diorama.

Keep the officer, radio operator and rifleman associated in the record. Their original three-man combination is more specific than a loose assortment of Canadian soldiers.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD112 product record lists a release date of July 2009 and a retirement date of August 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
