King & Country DD098 Alive and Dead: A Combat Scene with an Unequal Outcome

The title should be read plainly

The archived description explicitly identifies the German figure as dead. This is therefore a casualty scene, rather than a surrender or medical-treatment set.

The American remains low over his rifle while the German lies on the ground. Their different body positions supply the central contrast without a complicated arrangement of scenery.

A reason to slow down in the gallery

A catalog of vehicles and action poses can make combat look like an uninterrupted sequence of movement. This pair introduces the permanent outcome behind those images.

The scene is best read with the casualty visible, rather than reduced to background decoration behind the rifleman. Both figures are necessary to the release’s meaning.

Why preserve the original pair?

The two men could easily be separated into unrelated displays. Keeping their original reference together records that King & Country offered this specific encounter as one set.

It also prevents an unboxed German casualty from being misidentified solely by the series of the surrounding figures.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD098 product record lists a release date of May 2008 and a retirement date of April 2011. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
