The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD100

DD100 stands with one hand at his hip, giving General Philippe Leclerc a restrained presence among the more active DD personalities. The figure opens a chapter that leads from Free France to Paris and Strasbourg.

The name began as protection

Philippe de Hauteclocque reached de Gaulle in London in July 1940 using the name Leclerc. The Ordre de la Libération’s biography follows the escapes and journey that brought him there.

The name became inseparable from his wartime command, and it is the one used for this release.

The 2nd Armoured Division returns to France

Leclerc’s division trained with American equipment before landing in Normandy on 1 August 1944. He entered Paris on 25 August and received the German surrender there; Strasbourg followed in November.

Those dates place the figure’s most familiar collecting context after the June landings, even though the release sits within the DD series.

A commander beside his division’s equipment

DD101 supplies the Richelieu M10 and DD103 a French scout car. Their markings and crews give Leclerc’s figure a more specific setting than placing him among any available Allied vehicles.

He is a separate single-figure release. The vehicles and their crews are companion subjects, not additional contents of DD100.

Why a quiet portrait belongs

The photograph’s upright stance leaves the emphasis on the person rather than a staged battlefield action. DD100 gives collectors a way to connect the French vehicle releases with the commander whose name became closely associated with the division’s wartime journey.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD100 product record lists a release date of December 2008 and a retirement date of April 2011. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
