The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL100
AL100 gives the dismounted AL collection another horse to stand nearby. The reference image shows the animal saddled and equipped, with its head held differently from the lowered-head AL099. Together the two releases create a small amount of variety that a camp scene can use immediately.

A return prompted by the figures on foot
The product announcement says collectors and dealers had requested the empty horses because of the number of dismounted Light Horse figures available. It is a pleasingly practical explanation for a release: men sitting and standing around a mounted camp need their horses somewhere in the picture.
The later edition also changed the colours. That detail matters when comparing AL100 with earlier standing-horse subjects, especially where a seller has abbreviated the name or paired a loose piece with an uncertain box.
A camp is more than its people
I would begin with the horses and the space they need, then place the dismounted figures around that arrangement. Treating the animals as an afterthought can make a mounted camp feel crowded or physically implausible.
A little separation between horses, and a clear route for men carrying equipment, can make the scene feel organized without adding a great deal of scenery. The animal’s carried saddle also helps connect it with subjects such as AL079’s preparation activity.
A useful historical comparison
Photographs and accounts of mounted service show the animals as a continuing presence through movement, rest and demobilization. Trooper James Sweeney’s account of handing over horses after the war is one personal example of their place in the men’s experience.
AL100 is not an identified horse from that account. Its collecting role is broader: it lets the AL range include a believable life around the riders, rather than showing every mount permanently occupied and moving toward an attack.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived AL100 product record lists October 2017 as the release date and September 2019 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
