King & Country AL101 Australian Light Horseman and Koala: A Small Passenger from Home

The reference image rewards a close look

The saved photograph shows the trooper holding the koala against his chest. Its grey fur contrasts with the warm uniform colour, helping the little animal remain visible even though it occupies only a small part of the sculpt.

I would display the figure where that contrast can be seen, with an uncluttered background behind the upper body. From too far away, the koala can be lost among the soldier’s equipment; up close it is the reason to stop and look.

Why this figure belongs beyond the novelty shelf

A mascot subject can be funny, affectionate and historically suggestive at the same time. AL101 gives the collection a moment of gentleness and a very recognizable Australian animal, while the soldier’s equipment keeps the scene connected to service.

It works well alongside AL092’s kangaroo-and-handler group, but it can also stand alone. The two releases show different animal relationships and provide an accessible way for visitors to begin asking about the people behind the more familiar military poses.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived AL101 product record lists June 2018 as the release date and July 2021 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
