Del Prado · Figure study

The large metal gorget at the chest is the key to this figure. It identifies a military-police subject whose traffic paddle and equipment bring movement control and authority into a display usually dominated by combat poses.

Look for the chest badge and paddle

The photographed figure combines a helmet, goggles, compact submachine gun and a traffic-control paddle. The gorget is more informative than the firearm: it is the clearest visible sign of the police role. In a mixed lot, a cropped image that hides the chest can make the figure look like an ordinary armed soldier. Ask for the full front view before relying on the seller’s description.

Authority under the Nazi regime

Military policing must also be placed within the coercive institutions of the wartime German state. The Deutsches Historisches Museum’s account of the Wehrmacht documents the armed forces’ relationship with National Socialism. A catalog should neither turn the insignia into admiration for the regime nor treat military authority as politically neutral. The model represents a role in that historical system, rather than a named individual whose personal actions are known.

The details worth checking

Inspect the gorget lettering and suspension, goggles, paddle edge and weapon. These small features distinguish the release and can be damaged or obscured by repainting. If the paddle is missing, the basic body remains but the traffic-control story becomes less clear. A restrained road-sign setting and a precise caption make the figure useful for explaining the organisation behind an army’s movements, while keeping its wider historical context in view.
