King & Country · Vietnam · VN030

VN030 shows four Australians moving on foot, with bush hats, varied weapons and equipment carried across their backs. The spacing between the separate figures is part of its appeal: the group can stretch along a path instead of being fixed into one compact fighting cluster. After the helmeted Marines of the early VN releases, the changed silhouette is immediately noticeable.

Read the equipment across all four men

The release description identifies Royal Australian Regiment soldiers as portrayed in 1967–68. It lists an M60, M79 and M16 alongside the L1A1 self-loading rifle associated with Australian service. That mixture is the most useful way to look at the group. Compare the length and shape of each weapon, then the different loads. Uniform similarity does not mean all four miniatures represent the same job.

Let the path explain the arrangement

A shallow curve gives the viewer several different views of the figures without making the patrol look like a parade. Low vegetation can frame the feet while keeping weapons and faces visible. The four bases also let you vary the distance between men. Treat the arrangement as a readable miniature composition rather than a diagram of prescribed patrol spacing: the shelf’s limited depth is not the landscape’s actual scale.

Count poses, not just people

When buying the set loose, four Australian figures are not automatically the correct four figures. Compare each weapon, stance and pack with the reference photo. Request close views of rifle muzzles, the machine gun, projecting aerials and thin straps. Ask whether the figures have been attached to scenery, especially if the bases are partly hidden. Record the complete VN030 group photograph alongside individual views. The set adds national and visual breadth to a Vietnam collection while offering a compact way to compare how equipment makes one infantry role different from another.
