King & Country · Vietnam · VN020
VN020 stretches out behind his rifle, with the sun helmet, arms and curved magazine concentrated at the front of a long, low base. It is easy to overlook a prone figure when browsing a shelf of standing models. Viewed from above and slightly to the side, however, the pose becomes clear: the body’s length and the forward attention are the subject.
North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong are not identical labels
The release identifies this figure as NVA: the North Vietnamese Army, commonly used in English for the People’s Army of Vietnam. The Viet Cong label generally refers to the southern communist forces. They fought on the same side, but catalog descriptions should preserve the distinction when the maker supplies it. A helmet or green uniform alone is not enough to identify an unknown loose miniature; use the exact photographed release as the comparison.
The conflict needs more than one viewpoint
The Australian War Memorial’s overview of the war describes the Tet Offensive as attacks across South Vietnam by Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces. VN020 provides one represented participant in that much wider conflict. It does not identify a named battalion or a specific location at Huế. Keeping that boundary clear allows a historical display to include opposing forces without reducing the war to a generic pair of uniforms.
Give a prone figure a visible foreground
Place VN020 near the front of the display, with low vegetation or a restrained ground texture. Tall grass directly ahead of the rifle hides both the weapon and the face. In a seller’s listing, request a side view and an overhead view; the muzzle, hands, helmet rim and base edges are easily obscured in a single low photograph. Check the exact code, too. VN020 is a different release from VN02 The Vietnamese, an older K&C set whose shorter number can be misleading in search results.
