A different balance from the moving figure

The body and rifle create parallel vertical lines. The helmet, belt and ammunition pouches provide detail without changing the tightly ordered outline.

The gray rectangular base contributes to that geometry. Unlike a scenic earth base, it does little to suggest a particular terrain, keeping the emphasis on posture and uniform.

The series contains several drill positions

WS340 moves the rifle to the front for a present-arms pose. WS339 represents an NCO with a different weapon presentation, while WS338 supplies the inspecting officer.

Those comparisons are useful because closely related parade figures can look almost interchangeable in a distant shelf photograph.

WS337 is one rifleman, with the weapon at his side. It is not a multi-figure rank and does not include the officer who might be placed in front of him.

The figure’s place in the catalog comes from this precise stationary pose within a historically identified Waffen-SS parade group. The rifle butt, bayonet and close stance are the clearest details to retain in the reference view.
