The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS245

The large German cross dominates the side of WS245’s tiny armored body. Under the gray finish is a Soviet BA-64B design, making this a captured-vehicle interpretation rather than a German-designed armored car.

The markings describe the operator

King & Country explicitly presents a captured German-service version. The Soviet origin and German markings therefore describe different parts of the model’s identity.

The distinction matters in a searchable catalog. A vehicle can belong to the German-service collection while retaining the design history of the country that originally produced it.

The small body has a distinctive shape

The faceted armor narrows toward a small open-topped turret. Four wheels sit beneath the short hull, with the front sloping sharply toward the radiator area.

The oversized-looking cross makes the captured-service theme particularly easy to read. It contrasts with the dusty lower surfaces and compact proportions.

The original context needs care

The sales description associates the captured type with anti-partisan duties in occupied eastern territory. That places the subject in the setting of occupation, not simply in a colorful story about acquiring another vehicle.

The release does not document a particular captured car, unit or operation. The markings alone cannot supply that missing biography, nor establish the conduct of a specific crew.

A comparison with larger reconnaissance vehicles

Beside an eight-wheeled armored car such as WS197, the BA-64B’s small size and four-wheel layout become especially apparent. The two models represent very different mechanical forms within the broader reconnaissance subject.

WS245 earns its catalog entry through that combination of compact Soviet design and a German-service finish. The complete code, faceted hull and conspicuous crosses are the useful identification points when comparing it with other BA-64 offerings or an unlabeled secondhand model.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS245 product record lists a release date of February 2014. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
