The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS246

WS246 keeps the shape of an early motor car surprisingly visible beneath its armor. The separate fenders, tall grille and narrow wheels sit below an angular open compartment, giving the Adler Kfz. 13 a distinctive appearance among the later armored vehicles.

The open top changes the vehicle’s character

A gun shield rises within the fighting compartment rather than forming part of a closed rotating turret. Looking down into the model reveals that open arrangement, while a low side view emphasizes the car-like lower body.

The gray finish and large cross tie the different shapes together without hiding how light and compact the vehicle appears.

An early-war collecting subject

The manufacturer associates the Kfz. 13 with the campaigns in Poland and France and its continued use at the start of the invasion of the Soviet Union. The record does not name a particular vehicle history for WS246.

The model is useful for comparing the earlier open armored-car form with the more enclosed bodies and specialized layouts of later releases.

The front is worth a separate photograph

The prominent grille and curved fenders supply details that can disappear in a side-only picture. A front-quarter view shows how the narrow hood meets the wider armored compartment.

The reference also makes the gun shield visible above the side, one of the most important features to account for when inspecting an example.

WS246 belongs in the collection because its design is so visibly different from a tank or a later heavy armored car. It creates a useful point of comparison within the development of German reconnaissance vehicles.

Its collecting identity rests on the open body, shield, grille and early car-like proportions. Those features should remain visible in the catalog record rather than be reduced to a generic label of gray German armored vehicle.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS246 product record lists a release date of September 2013. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
