The head and weapon face the movement

The face remains visible above the rifle, while the legs and bent body suggest the step in progress. The weapon does not point along the same extended horizontal line as a standing firing figure.

The equipment at the waist and back adds weight to the body, making the movement appear loaded rather than athletic or ceremonial.

A useful counterpart for a small group

Placed beside WS243, the different shoulder heights and arm positions prevent the two riflemen from looking duplicated. They can move past a prone or kneeling figure to create another contrast of levels.

The set does not identify a named soldier or battlefield. Its historical theme is ordinary infantry movement, expressed through the weapon, equipment and body rather than a specific biography.

WS244 adds a clear two-handed running pose to the collection. Its place is easiest to understand through comparison with WS243, while its full code preserves the separate release identity.

For a loose example, look for both hands on the rifle and the more open forward posture. Those details are more useful than the letter B alone when photographs are small or titles incomplete.

Sager’s archived WS244 product record lists a release date of October 2013 and a retirement date of February 2021. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
