The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD305
Four men advance with noticeably different weapons in DD305. King & Country’s first Searching for Private Ryan group brings Captain Miller, Reiben, Upham and Jackson into the film-inspired part of the DD collection.

The first half of the screen squad
- Captain John Miller carries the Thompson.
- Reiben brings the Browning Automatic Rifle.
- Upham is the interpreter attached from another unit.
- Jackson carries the scoped Springfield rifle.
The differing roles and equipment help distinguish the figures within one four-man release. Upham’s presence is especially useful to explain: he is not simply another Ranger with the same background as the others.
The manufacturer connects the film with its own history
The release announcement recalls hearing about Spielberg’s Normandy film during production in 1997 and links that interest with the company’s early American D-Day figures. It presents these later sets as a tribute to the film and the real wartime service that inspired it.
That is King & Country’s account of its range history. It should not be retold as a personal collecting memory belonging to Operation ToyBox’s owner.
Keep the fiction and history legible
The men are screen characters, not a documented four-man patrol reconstructed from a wartime record. Their recognizable appearance belongs to the film’s interpretation of Normandy.
DD275’s Dale Dye figure provides a related behind-the-scenes subject through the military adviser’s work preparing actors. DD306 completes the miniature search squad with four further figures.
The group needs room for the different weapons
Staggering the men slightly keeps the Thompson, BAR and scoped rifle from overlapping into one dark line. The individual silhouettes are a major part of the set’s appeal.
DD305 earns its place through character variety and its connection with the manufacturer’s own D-Day collecting story.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD305 product record lists a release date of September 2017 and a retirement date of June 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
