The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS168

WS168 holds a stick grenade in his right hand while kneeling with his rifle against the body. He has not yet made a broad throwing movement. The restrained pose concentrates attention on the equipment and on the moment before an action.

Camouflage in a compact figure

The smock, trousers and helmet covering provide several areas of pattern, interrupted by the rifle stock, straps and the grenade’s handle. The bent knee creates a stable lower shape while the head and shoulders remain alert.

Compared with a standing thrower, this figure takes up less visual space. He can sit within a group without every neighboring weapon line having to compete with a large outstretched arm.

The title’s divisional setting

The release description places him with the Hitlerjugend division in Normandy. This refers to the 12th SS Panzer Division, a military formation of the Waffen-SS, rather than simply a boy wearing a youth-organization uniform.

That distinction is worth keeping in the label. The division’s name connects it to Nazi youth recruitment, while the figure represents a combat soldier equipped for the Normandy campaign. It does not provide a named identity, exact age or a documented personal incident.

A moment that connects other poses

Placed near the prone figures of WS167 or WS169, the kneeling grenadier provides a middle height between men on the ground and a moving officer. His gaze can connect the group without requiring a dramatic scenic element.

I would keep the hand holding the grenade visible and avoid crowding the rifle against another figure. Those two objects distinguish his subject at a glance. The small base also makes him adaptable to a compact collection where a larger multi-figure set may be difficult to accommodate. WS168 earns its place through a specific, readable moment and a useful change of posture within the wider 2010 infantry group.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS168 product record lists a release date of September 2010 and a retirement date of June 2013. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
