The Operation ToyBox catalog · AL011

The rifle is held across the body, the feet are planted and the head is lowered slightly. AL011 is ready, but he has not committed to the firing pose of AL008. That suspended moment gives the early Ottoman infantry group a welcome change of pace.

What the simple title captures

“Standing Ready” leaves the next action open. He might be waiting for an order, watching a neighboring soldier or preparing to raise the rifle. Those are possible readings of the sculpt, rather than a documented identity supplied with the release.

The pale uniform makes the darker leather equipment and wooden rifle especially easy to see. The pose gathers those details toward the middle of the figure, producing a compact outline beside men whose weapons project farther outward.

A campaign seen from the other side

The National Army Museum’s overview of the Palestine campaign recalls the failed attacks on Ottoman-held Gaza before Allenby’s change of approach. The opposing army was defending an extensive front; its story cannot be represented entirely by a final moment of retreat.

That context suits an infantryman who is simply present and prepared. In an AL display, the ready pose allows the defenders to have a period of waiting, observation and organization as well as the dramatic instant of combat.

A connecting figure

AL011 works between the standing and kneeling firing figures, or near an officer without turning the group into a parade. His weapon sits low enough to avoid competing with every other rifle line.

I would use the direction of his face to connect him with another figure, then leave the middle of his body visible. A small turn of the base can make him appear engaged with the group instead of detached from it. This is the kind of modest release that becomes more valuable visually as a collection grows: it gives the action figures something to relate to.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived AL011 product record lists a release date of May 2010 and a retirement date of April 2014. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
